
Jonathan Bird

Mr Jonathan Bird is an orthopaedic surgeon in London specialising in knee surgery. He is able to treat professional athletes' knee problems as well as people suffering from arthritis on a daily basis. He strives to provide his patients with the best possible treatment and to improve their quality of life. Mr Bird is continually enhancing his orthopaedic practice and attends conferences to learn the most up-to-date therapies and procedures for his patients. While studying at the UCL School of Medicine, Mr Bird joined the British Army where he witnessed firsthand the high level of medical care provided to our military. He graduated from UCL in 1997 and continued to serve in the army until 2004, treating both military and civilians who had been injured in the fighting. Mr Bird went on to receive further advanced orthopaedic training in London before joining his current NHS position at University Hospital Lewisham. He is the main knee surgeon here and was responsible for establishing the Acute Knee Service. Additionally, he teaches medical students at King's College.
